1887

E.F
.
Falconnet
was
born
in the
castle
of
Bremgarten
,
near
the
City
of
Berne
,
Switzerland
. He
came
to the
United
States
with his
father
in
1850
.
Around
1852
he
settled
in
Tennessee
where
he
became
a
railroad
engineer
with
several
companies
. He was a
Knight
Templar
and had
served
in the
Confederate
Army
during
the
American
Civil
War
,
first
with the
Rock
City
Guards
,
next
he
became
a
member
of
Rutledge
Battery
in
1861
. In
addition
to
being
a
soldier
,
inventor
,
engineer
and
geologist
he was also a
composer
.
